Internal Controls & Internal Audit

We review processes such as purchasing, stock handling and approvals, then provide findings and recommended actions.

When would I need this?

You need to check whether purchasing, stock handling, expense approvals or another agreed process follows clear responsibilities and reliable checks in practice.

What will I receive?

  • An agreed control or internal audit scope
  • Process walkthroughs and evidence-based testing
  • A report of observations, risks and practical recommendations
  • An action register and agreed follow-up

What we need from you

  • Clear objectives and authority for the review
  • Relevant policies, process owners and records
  • Disclosure of possible conflicts and independence constraints

How we work together

  1. Confirm scope, competence and independence
  2. Understand the process and assess risk
  3. Test the agreed controls and discuss findings
  4. Report and agree responsibility for actions

A clear scope from the start

We agree deliverables, responsibilities and pricing after understanding the work. There is no fixed package price until the scope is clear.

  • A reviewer must not independently assure their own implementation.
  • Statutory financial audit, external assurance opinions and licensed tax-agent work are separate services; employment history is not a licence.

Look at what happens between the steps

A policy can describe the right process while the working day follows a different one. We review how responsibilities, approvals, records and checks operate in the agreed area, then discuss what the evidence shows with the people involved.

Clear findings, practical follow-through

The report should distinguish the observation, the resulting risk and the recommended response. An action register identifies ownership and agreed timing so the findings can be followed through rather than filed away.

Agree the review’s boundaries

Before accepting a review, we confirm competence, authority, access and independence. Work that designs or implements a control is distinct from independently assuring that same work. The engagement states which activities are included and which are not.

What could a first review cover?

A bounded process such as purchasing, stock handling, expense approval or access management can be a useful starting point. The final scope follows the organisation’s risks and the authority granted for the review.

Is this an external financial audit?

No. The website does not offer a statutory audit opinion or licensed external assurance through this service. Those are separate engagements with their own requirements.

Will every issue be discovered?

No review can promise that. The agreed scope, evidence, testing approach and limitations are recorded so the findings can be interpreted appropriately.
